One of the things that a healthy diet includes is foods high in specific micronutrients.<\/p>\n<p>So what are they? A definition from biochemistry is:<\/p>\n<p><strong>An essential nutrient, as a trace mineral or vitamin that is required by an organism in minute amounts.<\/strong><\/p>\n<h4>Where to get your Micro-nutrients<\/h4>\n<p>So where can we get these nutrients? Here is a list of some of the \u201cmost nutrient-dense\u201d foods available. I\u2019m sourcing this from this website &#8211;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.healthline.com\/nutrition\/11-most-nutrient-dense-foods-on-the-planet#TOC_TITLE_HDR_13\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener noreferrer\">The 11 Most Nutrient-Dense Foods on the Planet &#8211;<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0which has lots more detail for you to check on yourself.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Salmon<\/strong> \u2014 and other fatty types of fish \u2014 contain the greatest amount of omega-3&#8217;s fatty acids.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yelmfood.coop\/yfc\/wp-content\/uploads\/salmon.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-6884\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yelmfood.coop\/yfc\/wp-content\/uploads\/salmon.jpg?resize=207%2C69&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"micronutrients salmon\" width=\"207\" height=\"69\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Kale<\/strong> &#8211; Of all the healthy leafy greens, kale is the king. Contains, among other things, Vitamin A, Vitamin C, Vitamin K1, Vitamin B6 and lots of minerals<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_6885\" style=\"width: 189px\" class=\"wp-caption alignnone\"><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yelmfood.coop\/yfc\/wp-content\/uploads\/kale.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-6885\" class=\" wp-image-6885\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yelmfood.coop\/yfc\/wp-content\/uploads\/kale.jpg?resize=179%2C120&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"micronutrient kale\" width=\"179\" height=\"120\" \/><\/a><p id=\"caption-attachment-6885\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Kale.<\/p><\/div>\n<p><strong>Seaweed<\/strong> \u2013 contains high amounts of calcium, iron, magnesium and manganese and various bioactive compounds like carotenoids.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yelmfood.coop\/yfc\/wp-content\/uploads\/seaweed.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone wp-image-6886\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yelmfood.coop\/yfc\/wp-content\/uploads\/seaweed.jpg?resize=190%2C137&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"micronutrients seaweed\" width=\"190\" height=\"137\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Garlic<\/strong> &#8211; is high in vitamins C, B1 and B6, calcium, potassium, copper, manganese and selenium and studies have shown it can help lower high blood pressure. Plus it is yummy!<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yelmfood.coop\/yfc\/wp-content\/uploads\/garlic.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-6891\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yelmfood.coop\/yfc\/wp-content\/uploads\/garlic-300x203.jpg?resize=177%2C120&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"micronutrients garlic\" width=\"177\" height=\"120\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p><strong>Shellfish<\/strong> &#8211; are some of the most nutritious animals found in the sea. They are very high in important nutrients like vitamin B12 and zinc.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yelmfood.coop\/yfc\/wp-content\/uploads\/shellfish.jpg?ssl=1\"><img data-recalc-dims=\"1\" loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\" wp-image-6887\" src=\"https:\/\/i0.wp.com\/yelmfood.coop\/yfc\/wp-content\/uploads\/shellfish-300x200.jpg?resize=194%2C129&#038;ssl=1\" alt=\"micronutrients shellfish\" width=\"194\" height=\"129\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>So, that&#8217;s the first 5 out of our list of 11. check in with us next week for some more yummy sources of micronutrients.
